This post will be short.
For the last 6 months I have had Do Not Disturb (DND) enabled on my iPhone from 9 pm to 7 am. It’s a handy feature that blocks all notifications and sounds during the selected time period. Today I turned on the manual option, which enables Do Not Disturb 24×7. Before you have a heart attack, ask yourself this question – How many times a day do you check your phone “unprompted”? Meaning, you check or refresh just because- to see if someone or something is vying for your attention – a text message, an email, an Instagram post 🙄. If you add up the total number of unprompted checks with the total number of prompted checks each day, that is a lot of checks AND a lot of time wasted!
Do Not Disturb is now my default setting. Why, you might ask? I would say WHY NOT?! BUT, if you twisted my arm and made me give an answer I would have to say, “I enabled DND 24×7 mostly because I don’t care, until I do care and when that happens I will check my phone.” #sorry #notsorry
PSA: In DND mode, calls are allowed from favorites. I have a total of 3 people in that list. 😴

The future of shopping, according to Amazon, includes no lines, no waiting and no cashiers. For the past 4 years, the company has been working on technology that will allow customers to walk into a store, grab what they want and simply walk out – no checkout required. Amazon’s version of this tech-enabled brick-and-morter store, Amazon Go.
How does Amazon Go work?
Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the same types of technologies used in self-driving cars: computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning. Our Just Walk Out technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When you’re done shopping, you can just leave the store. Shortly after, we’ll charge your Amazon account and send you a receipt.
All you need to shop at an Amazon Go store is an Amazon account and the free Amazon Go app on your smartphone. Employee’s at Amazon’s Seattle headquarters are testing out the first store as we speak. It will open publicly to consumers in early 2017.

I don’t usually do reviews about software upgrades. Why? Because everybody else is already talking about it and I usually have nothing else to add. This time is different! Prior to iOS10 one of the FIRST things I would do IMMEdIATELY after installing any upgrade was to turn off sounds. Well, two in particular: Keyboard Clicks and Lock Sound. 🔕 They were so very annoying to me!!! CONFESSION: I secretly turned off my mom’s sounds on her iPhone last year while we were in New York. My oldest neice and I had a good laugh, mostly because my mom didn’t even notice. Sorry, mom).
But iOS10 is different! One of my FAVORITE new features are the new SOUNDS! 🔔 #backon Instead of adding them here, I found a great site, iPhone Tricks, where you can listen to each sound individually and hear the greatness for yourself. They all sound amazing to me and it is literally music to my ears! Click the picture below, scroll about halfway through the page and click on the Play icon (▶️). Good job Apple! Enjoy!!!
Oh and mom – you can turn your sound back on by going to Settings -> Sounds. Scroll all the way to the bottom and enable the last two options, like below. 😔
Welcome to the World of The Jetsons. In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve already arrived.
DuoSkin is a fabrication process that enables anyone to create customized functional devices that can be attached directly on their skin. It is created using gold metal leaf, a material that is cheap, skin-friendly, and robust for everyday wear. DuoSkin draws from the aesthetics found in metallic jewelry-like temporary tattoos to create on-skin devices which resemble jewelry, enabling users to control their mobile devices, display information, and store information on their skin while serving as a statement of personal style. Did you get that? Someone has basically developed a (temporary) tattoo – yes, the kind you wear on your skin – to control your mobile phone and other devices! Think of it as a skin bracelet that can serve three purposes:
- input: turns your skin into a trackpad so you can adjust your music player, etc.
- output: changes color based on your mood/emotion 😳
- communication: reads data off off your skin, sort of like YOU as a QR code 😳😳
Definitely wearable tech on steriods! Watch the new technology in action below or you can read the full paper here, it’s only 8 pages 🙂
