Travel Hack: Netflix

imageI arrived in Budapest yesterday and will be here for two weeks. My hotel is lovely but the problem is we only get two (2) channels in English: CNN International and BBC Entertainment. #boring Luckily I have 3 wonderful subscriptions thar are very capable of keeping me busy.

Lets start with the 2 apps that have no issue being accessed while travelong abroad. Spotify is amazing! It’s a unlimited streaming music service that costs for $9.99/month (free 30-day trial). When Love and War came, no need to pay, just hit play! You can create playlists, save files for offline listening and even follow your friends and favorite atrists. They also have several lists for top tracks.

Next up is NextIssue, it’s a rental service for magazines. The unlimited version costs $14.99/month (they also have a free 30-day trial). Before I travel, I always dowload the magazines I love and have at it! No more spending $4 an issues everytime I get on a plane and no more bulk in my FAVORITE travel bag, Ella Tote by Tory Burch. The most popular magazines are all there: Glamour, People, Time, Vogue, Newsweek, Brides and so many more!!!

Now for Netflix at $7.99/month (streaming only package). This one is not so easy because you can’t access it outside of the US (apps and websites check your IP address, which reveals your location). Let me make your life easier and introduce you to HideMyAss. The service does one simple thing: fake your location. The downside is there is a cost, but don’t be alarmed, it’s only $11.52 for 30-days access. You create an account and can setup your iPad, Android, Mac or Windows laptop to all look like you’re in one place even though physically you are somewhere else. There are free servies out there but this one has to be the easiest (step-by-step guides with pictures) and at a reasonable price. Once you set it up, you can use it for other apps too, like Hulu, Pandora and anything else you use on a daily basis.
