My Brother’s Keeper

president

President Obama launched an initiative called My Brother’s Keeper, an effort focused on creating opportunity for boys and young men of color. I watched the 39 minute speech and want to highlight a few key comments:

  • “They never gave up on me, so I didn’t give up on myself.”

  • “If you work hard, if you take responsibility, then you can make it.”

  • “We need to change the statistics.”

  • “Nothing keeps a young man out of trouble like a father who takes an active role in his son’s life.”

  • “The urgency of the situation requires us to move past some of those old arguments and focus on getting something done and focusing on what works.”

  • “No Excuses”

The underlying goal is to implement what works. So, what can WE all do right now? BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE!
