Cash App is a service, similar to PayPal and Venmo, that allows you to send cash to friends and family, free of charge. Cash App now has a (debit) card that allows you access to your funds (after linking your personal bank account) as well as funds transferred to you by others. The card is free, just log into your Cash App account and sign up (or click here). You can customize your card by selecting a black or white card, as well as by adding other text/graphics. A physical Visa debit card (with a chip) will be mailed to you. In case you are wondering, a credit check is not required to get this card.
Under normal circumstances, this card would be useless for anyone who already has a debit card through their bank. So what has changed that makes me consider getting this card? A feature called Boost. Basically, when you use your Cash App Card, you select and apply pre-determined Boosts ($ or % discounts) to you transaction for immediate in-store savings. Here are the Boosts I currently see in my account:
- Coffee Shop – $1 of each transaction (ANY coffee shop: Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts)
- Chik-fil-A: 10% off
- Grocery Store: $5 off one purchase (ANY grocery store)
- Marta (train in Atlanta): $1 off each ride
- Cinemark (movie tickets): $3 off each visit
- Nike: 10% off one purchase
You can use a Boost once every 30 minutes. So if you want to get a coffee then head to the grocery store, just be sure to switch your boost before you checkout. Boosts often change so be sure to check your Cash App frequently. I plan to use my Cash App Card only for this purpose!

I lived the life today in Seattle’s swanky, five-month old one-of-a-kind Starbucks, strategically situated in its’ Capitol Hill neighborhood (think the Manhatten of NYC). Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room is not your regular run-of-the-mill coffee store – it’s a 15,000 square-foot $20 million dollar “experience”. If you thought Starbucks was more about lifestyle before, this new offering brings a serious social status / element to the table in an amazing way! As soon as you walk in you are WOW’d: tastings of rare coffee (I tried coffee from Tanzania), a full sit-down restaurant and large brewing equipment that you can watch in action! The store is as much about education and luxury (and coffee) as it is about lifestyle and offers coffee and beans from all over the world. Though the coffee ranges from $4-$7+ a cup, it makes for a much cheaper and cooler date than the movies!
Here are a few of my favorite products offerings and a short video:
I had no idea Starbucks bought Teavana in 2012 (Press Release). Yesterday, after being inspired by a co-worker who bragged about his loose tea, being able to use the same leaves for multiple refills a day and the fact that you can’t “see” what’s in a typical lipton tea bag), I went to Teavana to make my first purchase! I have to say the experience was amazing – smells included! And le m just say, the rock sugar is amazing!!!!
Here’s what I bought (in addition to a clear tumblr – couldn’t find that one online to show you). You can also check out their blog here.
