Must Have Tech Toys

I own a few tech “toys” that make life so much easier (and funner!). The best tech are those items you don’t really know you need until AFTER you purchase, try it out for a few weeks, then start wondering how you survived without ‘that thing’ for so long. Here are my top tech gadgets/items of 2018 so far – I use them all DAILY!

Apple AirPods – Yes, I know these have been out forever; but, I literally JUST purchased them last month and OMG I have NO IDEA what took me so long to buy in. They are GREAT and well worth the price tag. My personal macbook (gold), work laptop and iPhone all have different connectors for the headphone jacks and it became super annoying to be somewhere (coffee shop, work, mall) and not have the right cord with you. #problemsolved with Apple’s AirPods. They are Bluetooth and can connect easily to all of my devices! Added bonus? The super slim case is also a charger and you can wear one AirPod at a time to extend the listening/talking time. #winning Purchase here.

Burberry Technical Pouch – Speaking of cords … even though I don’t need headphone cables anymore, I still like to carry my iPhone / laptop charger with me, and occasionally my Apple Mouse (another wireless gadget that connects to both my work and personal laptop with ease!). Where’s a girl to store these items?? Enter the Burberry Technical Pouch. It’s nylon, super sheek and holds ALOT (business cards, laptop chargers, iPhone charger, cleaning wipes, etc.). I had been eyeing this piece for a few months and am glad I finally made the purchase.  Transferring these items between my work bag and my favorite tote for the weekend is now a breeze. This pouch is PERFECT for those busy gals (or guys) who are aways on the go!

Pop Socket and iPhone Case for Spring – Must have for texters, selfie takers, web surfers… basically anyone who is on their phone all the time. Everything it says on the packaging is absolutely true: 1) Never drop your phone, 2) Take better selfies and 3) Prop your phone. Purchase a variety of Pop Sockets here and check out the #popsocketmovement on Instagram. Also, I have been rocking a black iPhone case for some time. Why? Because black is my color! For the Spring, I decided to get a light, airy case for #noreasonatall. iPhone cases here.

If you watched the video above (recommended!) and think Pop Sockets are a joke, think again! Per Forbes:

Barnett started by selling PopSockets out of his garage back in 2014. Now it is being sold at Amazon, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Walmart and a number of other stores. Barnett said that its sales went from 30,000 PopSockets in the U.S. in the first year to 35 million PopSockets across 40 countries last year. In the first year, revenue hit $240,000 and PopSockets grew 800% every year. This year, PopSockets is on track for manufacturing 70 million products. PopSockets started out with just one employee: Barnett himself. And now the company employs 120 people across Boulder, Colorado; San Francisco, California; Finland; and Singapore.

Enjoy!!!

Do Not Disturb

This post will be short.

For the last 6 months I have had Do Not Disturb (DND) enabled on my iPhone from 9 pm to 7 am. It’s a handy feature that blocks all notifications and sounds during the selected time period. Today I turned on the manual option, which enables Do Not Disturb 24×7. Before you have a heart attack, ask yourself this question – How many times a day do you check your phone “unprompted”? Meaning, you check or refresh just because- to see if someone or something is vying for your attention – a text message, an email, an Instagram post 🙄. If you add up the total number of unprompted checks with the total number of prompted checks each day, that is a lot of checks AND a lot of time wasted!

Do Not Disturb is now my default setting. Why, you might ask? I would say WHY NOT?! BUT, if you twisted my arm and made me give an answer I would have to say, “I enabled DND 24×7 mostly because I don’t care, until I do care and when that happens I will check my phone.” #sorry #notsorry

#TheEnd

PSA: In DND mode, calls are allowed from favorites. I have a total of 3 people in that list. 😴

Sound in iOS 10

I don’t usually do reviews about software upgrades. Why? Because everybody else is already talking about it and I usually have nothing else to add. This time is different! Prior to iOS10 one of the FIRST things I would do IMMEdIATELY after installing any upgrade was to turn off sounds. Well, two in particular: Keyboard Clicks and Lock Sound. 🔕 They were so very annoying to me!!! CONFESSION: I secretly turned off my mom’s sounds on her iPhone last year while we were in New York. My oldest neice and I had a good laugh, mostly because my mom didn’t even notice. Sorry, mom).

But iOS10 is different! One of my FAVORITE new features are the new SOUNDS! 🔔 #backon Instead of adding them here, I found a great site, iPhone Tricks, where you can listen to each sound individually and hear the greatness for yourself. They all sound amazing to me and it is literally music to my ears! Click the picture below, scroll about halfway through the page and click on the Play icon (▶️). Good job Apple! Enjoy!!!

Oh and mom – you can turn your sound back on by going to Settings -> Sounds. Scroll all the way to the bottom and enable the last two options, like below. 😔

Instant Photo Printer

Taking selfies and usies can be fun; but, sometimes you capture an extra special moment – one so special that you want to hold it in your hand. As in print it out! Some people have actual printers in their homes 🙀 and keep photo paper on hand 🙀🙀. My hunch is that most of us don’t. So what options do we have? Sure, you can go online to CVS or Target’s photo lab, upload your picture, wait an hour (or several hours), then skidaddle (sp?) on over to the store and pick it up. Who has time for all that??? I want a small, simple and handy device to keep nearby in case I decide I want to an actual copy of that fabulous pic I took. I also want it right then and there – no waiting!!!! 👊🏽

Urban Outfitters has all kinds of gadgets and trinkets, like the Prynt Smartphone Photo Printer – just the thing I had in mind! The cost is $150 and it works just like you’d imagine; but, with an added feature – video. “Print instant photos from your iPhone 6/6s! Simply attach the Prynt case to your phone, take a photo plus a video. Then, print it out! When you hand your photo to a friend, they can use the Prynt app to unlock the hidden video, magically bringing your Prynt photo to life.

Sure there are similar devices out there; but, this one is super cool with a vintage flare. It comes in 3 colors: white, black and turquoise. The photos print to sticker paper! You can use it on birthday cards, in your planner or make it into a magnet! Prynt is a great Christmas gift idea for tweens – just be sure to buy them extra paper! 😉 Prynt’s blog has many more ideas for this device. To see the Prynt case in action, check out the video below. #HappySaturday

Kate Spade Downloadables

Ok, so I’m slightly obsessed with Kate Spade’s new spring prints – particularly the Queen Bee line. A few days ago I purchased a chic new iPhone themed “queen bee” case from Nordstrom followed by a pendant necklace today from the Kate Spade site itself. I  absolutely love them both can’t wait to wear them on my trip to Miami and create the perfect Instagram post showing off my slight obsession; but, that’s not what this post is about….

While on the Kate Spade site I noticed a few DOWNLOADBLES for tech devices – iPad, iPhone, Mac, etc. And while I’m highly disappointed there is no “Queen Bee” theme, there are a few solid options you can chose from, namely Deco Dots, Read Between the Lines and Daisy. You can see the full list here.
